Iranian Envoy Enters Yemen
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran confirmed on Saturday that the country's new Ambassador to Yemen Hassan Irlou has arrived in Sana'a, noting that he will soon submit his credentials to the Yemeni officials.
"Hassn Irlou, the plenipotentiary and extraordinary ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Yemen, has entered Sana'a," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh told FNA.
He added that Irlou will soon submit his credentials to President of Yemen's Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat and Foreign Minister of the Yemeni National Salvation Government Hisham Sharaf.
Last week, Iranian Foreign Minister's Senior Assistant for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji said his country will use all its potentials and capabilities to defend the innocent Yemeni people on the international scene.
Khaji made the remarks in a videoconference with Hisham Sharaf Abdullah.
Khaji referred to Iran’s principled stances on a political resolution of Yemen’s crisis, and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will employ all its capability and capacity to defend the oppressed Yemeni nation on the global scene via numerous regional and international consultations.”
Sharaf Abdullah, for his part, presented a report on the latest measures taken by YNSG on the global scene and the correspondences carried out with the UN in a bid to register the Saudi-led coalition’s crimes in Yemen, including aggression and seizure of the ships carrying fuel and food staff during the coronavirus epidemic.
Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former fugitive President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi back to power and crush the popular Houthi Ansarullah movement.
The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war has claimed more than 100,000 lives for over the past five years.
The Houthi Ansarullah movement, backed by armed forces, has been defending Yemen against the Saudi-led alliance, preventing the aggressors from fulfilling the objectives of their deadly campaign.
