TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran’s Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Khodadad Gharibpour said that the country expects to produce 10 million tons of steel in the Persian Gulf Mining and Metal Industries Special Economic Zone by 2025.
“Under the Development Outlook Vision in 2025, it is predicted that the annual production capacity of steel in Persian Gulf Mining and Metal Industries Special Economic Zone will hit 10 million tons,” Gharibpour said on Saturday.
“Increasing raw materials import and manufactured products export are prerequisites to create steelmaking capacity in the region,” he added.
“The existence of huge oil and gas reserves, 8th Oil Refinery, Persian Gulf Star Refinery and gas refineries of Sarkhoun, Qeshm and Gurzin are among the important factors distinguishing this zone from other special zones of Persian Gulf littoral states,” he added.
In a relevant report it was announced on Saturday that Iran produced 13.9 million tons of steel ingot in the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020-September 21, 2020).
