No Limit for Neighbors’ Investment in Iran’s Oceanic Port
TEHRAN (FNA)- Managing Director of Sistan and Balouchestan Ports and Maritime Organization Behrouz Aqayee said that Iran’s neighboring countries can invest in Chabahar Port with no limits.
“Based on their needs and interests, Pakistan and other neighbors of Iran can invest in Chabahar port without any restrictions.” Aqayee said during his meeting with Pakistan’s Envoy to Tehran, Rahim Hayat Qureshi on Monday.
He said that Chabahar Port plays as a link for the regional ports, adding, “Strengthening connection of countries and their mutual cooperation is one of the missions of this port.”
Rahim Hayat Qureshi, for his part, said that unique equipment and infrastructure capacities at Shahid Beheshti Port of Chabahar can highly develop the regional interactions.
Expressing pleasure with the possibility of transferring goods through Chabahar to Karachi, he voiced hope that this process would continue with boosting interactions between the two countries.
In relevant remarks last month, Aqayee said that Iran’s Southeastern strategic port of Chabahar is a big chance for the country to develop trade with the neighboring countries.
“Chabahar is the top Iranian port that has the capacity for attracting foreign traders,” Aqayee said on Monday November 30.
“After completion of the first phase of Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar, it can play an important role in marketing, attracting investors and facilitating the arrival of different ships,” he continued.
“It will also set the ground for strengthening trade exchange with neighbors like India, Oman and Afghanistan,” Aqayee said.
The official stressed that thanks to Chabahar's capacities, India can transport goods to Afghanistan with no need to Pakistan.
He emphasized that Chabahar can link regional states to Afghanistan and Central Asia with a cheaper route.
