Biden Says Riots in Washington Incited by Trump

TEHRAN (FNA)- US President-elect Joe Biden accused Incumbent President Donald Trump of inciting the January 6 riots in front of the Capitol Building.

"Last week, we saw an unprecedented assault on our democracy. It was unlike anything we have witnessed in the 244-year history of our nation," he said in a statement posed on the Official Transition Website on Wednesday, TASS reported.

"This criminal attack was planned and coordinated. It was carried out by political extremists and domestic terrorists, who were incited to this violence by President Trump," he added.

He described what happened on that day as "an armed insurrection against the United States of America", stating, "Those responsible must be held accountable."

Authorities of Washington DC confirmed four deaths during violent protests last Wednesday at the US Congress building, according to Metropolitan Police Department Chief Robert Contee. Later, the police department announced in a statement the US Capitol Police officer injured in riots at the US Congress building died.
