Gov. Spokesman Rules Out Gradual Removal of Sanctions
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Government Spokesman Ali Rabiyee said that Tehran will not accept a step-by-step plan for the removal of sanctions to restore the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
Rabiyee said that the Iranian diplomats participating the Vienna nuclear talks will not accept a step-by-step approach for revival of the JCPOA.
“In a short period of time, the US government can return to its commitments under the deal,” he said, adding that Iran will then verify the move and return to its undertakings under the deal.
In relevant remarks in early April, an informed official told Press TV that Iran will never accept a step by step lifting of sanctions, adding that no negotiations with the US are acceptable for Tehran before the complete removal of sanctions as Iran’s policy has not changed on the nuclear deal.
“Iran will hold no negotiations with the US — neither directly nor indirectly — before the lifting of all the sanctions that Washington imposed on the Islamic Republic after its exit from the 2015 nuclear agreement,” the official said, stressing that there has been no change in Iran’s policy towards the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
He went on to say that Iran’s policy has been made clear by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei. In other words, if the US lifts all sanctions against Iran and Iran verifies the measure, then the country will return to its JCPOA commitments.
