Rouhani: Iran Not After War, But Never to Surrender to Aggressors
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said that his country is not seeking war with any country, but meantime emphasized that the Islamic Republic will never give in to aggression.
“We are not seeking war and tension but we will not surrender to aggressive forces,” Rouhani said on Monday in the unveiling ceremony and annexation of ‘Dena’ Destroyer and ‘Shahin’ Minehunter to the fleet of Iran’s Army Navy.
He added that construction of homegrown ‘Dena’ destroyer is a sign of continuation of self-sufficiency of Iranian Armed Forces.
“The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy along with the Navy of the Army protect Iran’s territorial waters,” the president said, adding, “Today, all oceans are the venue of activity of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Navy within the framework of international regulations.”
“Today, Iran’s Navy Forces depart from Sea of Oman and travel thousands of kilometers away in international waters without the need to dock at ports for the provision of water, food or fuel,” Rouhani emphasized.
“Iran’s Army and IRGC forces are self-sufficient in the field of air force, construction of Kowsar jetfighter, aircraft engine, air force and armored equipment and can defend the country against external threats in the best possible way,” he added.
Rouhani stressed that Iran has never intended to invade any country, adding, “We explicitly declare to our neighbors that Iran’s Armed Forces are ready to protect its neighbors against foreign threats wholeheartedly.”
He went on to say that Iran’s defense power is solely for deterrence and giving a response to invaders that will make them regret.
In relevant remarks in mid-April, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said that the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) guarantee security and calm in the country, adding that the two forces are ready to give a decisive response to any threat.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army and the IRGC are the guarantors of sustainable security and calm in the Islamic country and they are ready to give a decisive response to any threat or ominous move of the enemies,” General Baqeri said in a statement to congratulate the Army day.
He added that the dear Army supports the Iranian nation and its national interests and that it meets the country’s needs concerning non-military issues.
Also in March, Commander of the Iranian Army's Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said that constant and powerful presence of Navy forces of both the Army and the IRGC has deterred any aggression by enemies, as they know that any threat would receive a crushing response.
Khanzadi made the remarks in the meeting of synergy between the Army and IRGC Navies in the presence of a number of the both forces’ commanders.
“Security in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman is guaranteed by Army and IRGC Navy forces,” he said, adding that the enemies do not even think of aggression as they know that any threat will receive a crushing response by the Iranian youths.”
The commander underlined that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei is very satisfied with the harmony between Navy forces of the Army and IRGC.
“This harmony will avert any destabilizing measure by trans-regional interventionist forces,” Khanzadi stated, adding, “The convergence and synergy between the Army and IRGC Navies will thwart destabilizing measures of trans-regional countries and will safeguard security.”
IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, for his part, said, “There is convergence, solidarity and unity between the Army and IRGC Navies from the highest to the lowest levels,” adding, “This synergy and integration is the source of honor for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Tangsiri stressed that the course of unity, solidarity and energy with the fellow-combatants will never stop, adding, “The enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran have become dumfounded against this naval might.”
