Iran’s Agrifood Exports Up 20%
TEHRAN (FNA)- Nearly $900m worth of agricultural products were exported in the first two months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-May 21), an economic official said on Wednesday.
Managing Director of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) for agricultural products exports Mahmoud Bazaari said that the figure shows a 2-percent increase in value and a 20-percent growth in weight of agricultural exports.
He added that the exported items consisted of vegetables, dried fruits, flowers, and plants.
In relevant remarks in early June, Spokesman for Iran’s Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said that agricultural products accounted for more than 17 percent of total exports share value.
“Food and agricultural products made up 7.7 percent of total share of Iran’s exports last year (ended March 20, 2021) in terms of weight, making 17.6 percent of total exports share in terms of value,” Latifi said.
He added that more than 8,832,257 tons of agricultural, livestock, fishery and food products worth $6,167,290,164 were exported last year (March 20, 2020 to March 20, 20201).
