Iranian President Orders Accelerated Vaccination of Public against COVID-19
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi stressed the need for the health ministry to speed up public vaccination efforts.
Addressing a meeting of the national coronavirus campaign headquarters in Tehran on Thursday, Rayeesi said that stepping up the general vaccination of the people against the Covid-19 pandemic is a necessity.
He also urged the officials to bolster the process of treating the Covid-19 outpatients who are not in critical conditions, calling for tightening control over the entry into the country for foreign nationals at the border gates to make sure that the health operating standards relating to the Covid-19 are observed.
The Iranian president also stressed the need to prepare a comprehensive plan to confront the probable waves of the pandemic in the future.
President Rayeesi also underlined that the people need to be informed about the decisions on re-opening schools in a timely manner.
Iran's Customs Administration announced on Wednesday that over 60ml doses of coronavirus vaccine have been imported to the country so far.
Data released by the Iranian Customs Administration showed that 60, 323, 606 doses of various types of coronavirus vaccines have been imported in 55 batches so far.
It added that the maximum number of vaccines were imported from January 4 to August 22, 2021, 32 batches of them were 50, 726, 396 doses of Sinopharm vaccines.
After that the AstraZeneca vaccines (imported from Japan) included 2, 911, 810 doses, a batch of COVAX vaccines from Italy, including 1, 452,000 doses, and a batch of AstraZeneca vaccines imported from China.
