President Rayeesi: Iran-China Cooperation to Stabilize Region

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi in a message to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping called for broader cooperation between the two countries.

In his message to President Xi, President Rayeesi congratulated the National Day and the 72nd anniversary of the Establishment of the People's Republic of China.

He said that the lasting trust between Iran and China will stabilize cooperation in the region.

"Certainly, lasting trust between the two countries can expand the context of cooperation in the form of the One Road-One Belt Initiative, as well as a comprehensive programme of cooperation, and turn inter-regional cooperation into development, stability and peace," the Iranian president said.

President Rayeesi pointed out that China's sustained commitment to the priority of 'development' on the global political agenda reflects China's vision of a just, people-oriented international order that benefits all countries, especially developing ones.

"I hope that in the new chapter of relations between the two countries, we will see the promotion and expansion of cooperation in various economic, political and cultural fields, as well as the implementation of strategic partnership," he noted.

China had remained Iran’s biggest trade partner in the Iranian calendar year to late March as the country was responsible for almost a fourth of imports and exports registered at the Iranian customs office.

Top economic officials in Iran said in April that the country is capable of increasing the value of its exports to China to $27 billion within the next few years.

Economic authorities and trade experts maintained that Tehran and Beijing would exponentially increase their trade relations- after signing the 25-year document- to nearly $27 billion from the previous $9 billion.
