Iranian President Describes US Meddling as Cause of Regional Problems

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi once again stressed Tehran’s firm opposition to presence of foreigners in West Asia, and further labeled the US government's intervention in the regional affairs as root cause of some crisis.

Iran's president made the remarks while speaking to senior US media managers on Monday in New York.

Rayeesi termed promotion of relations with Iran's neighbors as one of his administration's pivotal policies.

“The main reason behind some problems in the regional countries’ relations has been foreign intervention, especially by the United States,” he cautioned.

"The US presence in the region will never create security, just in the same way that normalization of relations with some Arab countries by the Zionist regime will not bring security to this regime," the president added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Rayeesi pointed to the miscalculation made by the US and some Western countries during last year’s unrest in Iran, which followed the death of Mahsa Amini.

“The United States and some Western countries imagined due to a miscalculation that if they could manage part of the riots in Iran, they would achieve their goals. However, the Iranian nation did not cooperate with rioters and those who disrupted the country’s order and security and the plot hatched by the US and some European countries failed,” he stressed.

Rayeesi also pointed to the failure of the so-called US maximum pressure policy and sanctions against Tehran, suggesting that American media managers should urge their officials to reconsider the policy of imposing sanctions against the Iranian nation, because Iranians “are determined to overcome problems and will never yield to sanctions".

He noted that Washington and the West raise issues such as hijab, human rights and Tehran's nuclear activities just as an excuse to harm Iran as an independent country.

The Iranian chief executive also slammed American media silence on the killing of unarmed Americans by the US police.

Iranian officials say the future of the world will not witness unilateralism, and multilateralism will spread across the globe.

They stress that the future of the world and region will be shaped by regional countries and organizations, as a growing number of states across the globe have rejected unilateralism and coercion. They asked independent states to challenge the US hegemony in the region and around the world, and stressed that domineering behavior is not just special to Democrats or Republicans but in the nature of American policies.

Iranian military officials have also stressed that Washington has weakened to the extent that it plays no role in the West Asia region’s geopolitical landscape. They stated that Iran has defeated the US which enjoyed unrivalled hegemony in the region and the whole world before the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, but after the revolution they were forced to flee the region.

Officials in Iran say Washington cannot go ahead with its plan in the West Asia region as its schemes are doomed to fail, and add that Iran plays a key role in the political decisions of the United States and the fate of the White House is affected by Tehran's attitude.

Tehran believes that security and stability in the region is enhanced through interaction among the regional countries, describing the presence of foreigners as harmful.
